A little about me, I’m Annemarie Rossi. A typical day for me begins with a cup of coffee and a morning workout. I love all things outdoors. Some of my favorite outdoor activities include hiking, biking, stand-up paddle boarding, and gardening.  Being outdoors nourishes my soul. I am an avid scuba diver and enjoy traveling to explore the world’s oceans as often as I can. It is important to me to fuel my body with nutritious and wholesome foods, which I enjoy preparing.  Getting an appropriate amount of sleep each night is also a priority. A combination of solid nutrition and quality sleep ensures I have the power and energy needed to participate in all the physical activities I enjoy. I value a balance of work, rest, and play as a tool to manage stress.

Business Meeting

In 2007 I was invited to join 2 different brain injury research studies. The PEAT study conducted by Santa Clara Valley Medical Center and The GOALS study conducted at the San Francisco and Martinez VA.

The PEAT study used a pocket sized PDA, The Planning and Executive Assistance and Trainer (PEAT) and an automatic planning model developed for NASA to help TBI survivors plan their day and improve time management. As a therapist and trainer, I was responsible for teaching subjects to use the PEAT device efficiently and effectively.

The Goal Self Management Study (GOALS), aimed to help TBI survivors achieve goals they set for themselves using a systematic approach.  As a member of the research team, I served in many capacities over nearly a decade.  I collaborated with the team to design and create assessment and training tools. I administered and graded subjects pre and post assessments and co-led weekly group trainings.

I feel blessed to have worked with such influential professionals and am thankful for the wealth of knowledge I gained over the years as a clinical researcher.

To date, I continue to predominantly provide rehabilitation and care in the outpatient and home environment to those impacted by TBI and other neurologic disorders.

I am recognized as a Certified Brain Injury Specialist through the Brain Injury Association of America.

I have been an Occupational Therapist for nearly 3 decades.

My OT career began in an acute care hospital. I have worked with patients in various settings across the continuum of care: acute, sub-acute, skilled nursing (SNF), inpatient acute rehabilitation (ARU), and outpatient.

In 2004 I completed the NDTO Advanced Certification Course led by founder Waleed Al-Oboudi, OTR/L.

Using the well-established principles of neuro-recovery, this 3-week intensive course provided clinicians hands-on training to treat and manage hemiplegia from Stroke or Brain Injury.

Serving clients in their home and community environment has allowed me to individualize treatment approaches and custom tailor therapeutic interventions. As a result, clients report optimal goal achievement and client satisfaction.

If you live in San Francisco or Southern Marin, I would be honored to help you move beyond your injury by learning about your interests and priorities in your rehabilitation program. Let's work together!
